Challenge
A newly constructed residence with expansive windows, including a prominent apex window design, faced significant issues with heat and glare. The excessive solar gain through these large windows rendered some rooms, particularly the bedroom, uncomfortable for the occupants, affecting their sleep and overall enjoyment of the space. The challenge was to mitigate the heat and glare without compromising the architectural beauty and natural light afforded by such windows.
Solution
To address the excessive heat and glare, Silver 20 window film was chosen for its ultra-high performance characteristics:
Heat Reduction: Silver 20 is known for its excellent solar heat rejection properties, significantly reducing the heat transmitted through the glass.
Glare Control: The film's ability to cut down on glare meant more comfortable lighting conditions for the residents throughout the day.
UV Protection: The film offered strong protection against UV rays, which are harmful to both skin and the fading of interior furnishings.
Aesthetically Pleasing: Despite its functional benefits, Silver 20 maintained the home’s aesthetic with a subtle and neutral appearance that did not overpower the design of the windows.
Results
The installation of Silver 20 window film brought about transformative results:
Improved Comfort: The interior of the home, particularly the bedroom, was much cooler, allowing the residents to sleep comfortably.
Enhanced Aesthetics: The window film complemented the modern design of the house, adding a refined touch to the large glass features.
Energy Savings: The reduction in solar heat gain meant less reliance on air conditioning, leading to energy savings.
Increased Privacy: The reflective property of the film also provided a degree of daytime privacy without compromising the view from inside.
